Inland Empire

Well done to Lynch lovers Amy Ward, Greg Marsland and Percy Hirst for joining me in sitting through the three hour weird-fest that was Inland Empire.

Giant rabbit sitcom. Could be making fun of US television, could be foreshadowing the events of the film, could be in there for a laugh.

The creepy neighbour. Thinks there's going to be a murder and calls round to tell Laura Dern all about it.

Jeremy Irons. Playing a director who's making a film within David Lynch's film that's actually a remake of another film where the lead actors were murdered.

Laura Dern and Justin Theroux, playing actors starring in the new film. Their real lives may or may not blend into the lives of their characters, or indeed the characters of the original film. Or vice versa.

Foreign prostitutes. Who may or may not be smuggled to the US. And who start dancing to Kylie Minogue without any warning.

Laura Dern gets killed before the director calls "CUT!" Is this the end of the film within a film? Or the end of her life? Has she just been dreamt up by the woman at the start watching the rabbits? We may never know. But it seemed to have a happy ending.

Kiwi

An interesting little film that has reached over 7 million views on YouTube.

Big night out in... Manchester

"oh Manchester... is wonderful" goes the well-known football chant. To try and prove it and to celebrate Heather's 19th and Chris' 25th (again) we hit the bright lights of the big city. Thanks to Chewi and Heather for the photos.

Smile if you've run out of money after the first round (or even before it).

Smile if you're celebrating Heather's birthday.

The grown ups having a rest and talking about the old days.

Comedy moments are always guaranteed in 42nd St.

A quick summary

Unfortunately work deadlines have meant the blog hasn't been as updated as much recently. Here's a quick summary of what we've been up to.

Local music sensation DialEmma played an acoustic gig at the Bakery in Heaton Moor, and this dark, grainy photo is testament to it. They have some great tunes and a devilishly handsome bass player and you can listen to some of their tracks here.

Vic Furse had a go at playing darts... this was the result.

We sampled the pubs and clubs of Glossop for Chris' 25th birthday.

We went to the George for St Patrick's day (and Chris' birthday).

I laugh more often now

Here's some recommended music to ease you all into the weekend, the new single from Swedish indie band Peter Bjorn and John and it's called... Objects Of My Affection. The band's official site is here.

Cricket World Cup

The Cricket World Cup is under way in the West Indies which means plenty of action to watch on TV and another chance for England to take on everyone else. If you're not yet interested in the second best sport in the world, here are a few terms you'll need to become familiar with: four, six, leg before wicket, silly mid off, third umpire, Andrew Flintoff. The official site is here.

Arcade Fire gig

Unfortunately I didn't get any photos of this memorable event at the Apollo, so I've had to borrow them from elsewhere...

A pre-gig beverage (30 days til the end of Lent).

Mark: "Just because you're over 30 doesn't mean you can stop rocking."

Chewi: "Check out the zoom on my mobile phone camera."

"something filled up my heart with nothing"

"in the forest we are hiding"

"scare your son, scare your daughter"

"every night my dream's the same"

"there's a great black wave in the middle of the sea for me"

Keep the car running

Arcade Fire: one of the greatest bands ever. To celebrate the release of their new album and Dave and Chris and Chewi and Mark's trip to see them in concert at the weekend, here's a clip of them performing their new single live.

After a long wait, David Lynch's latest study in weirdness arrives at cinemas on Friday. Visit the official site here.

Office move action

A breathtaking action shot of Magnesium Media's office move on Friday. Here you can see: Wardey taking the trolley back for more boxes, Marvinio giving him advice on his driving, and lots of people sat around doing nothing. Today marks our first day in our new office, over the road from Europa House.
