USA road trip in 3 minutes
Some video of our road trip around the USA in the summer... it's mostly scenery but Greg sneaks on at the end. You can see the view of LA from Mulholland Drive, Santa Monica, Santa Barbara, Yosemite National Park, Death Valley National Park, Las Vegas, and different bits of New York. The music is a cover by R.E.M..

Wednesday music: Harborcoat by R.E.M.
You'd be surprised at the number of requests VoH has had for "an R.E.M. song released before the lead singer of The Kooks was even born". So by popular demand, here it is: Harborcoat from 1984's Reckoning album.
Will The Kooks ever release a song as good as this? With a first line like "they crowded up to Lenin with their noses worn off"? With a three-part vocal in the chorus? Watch this space.

Music pick: Now It's Gone - Poster Children
Celebrate Thursday with a song from American song-smiths Poster Children. "Poster Children have not had much commercial success or industry recognition, but critics consistently describe the band as catchy, impressive, and underrated" - not my words, but the words of Wikipedia.

New Sherlock Holmes movie on the way
Jeremy Brett was always the best Sherlock Holmes because he made the character seem a little bit crazy and mentally unsound. If you've read every Sherlock Holmes story and watched every episode of the TV series (picture above), then this will be of interest to you. If you haven't, maybe it won't.
Guy "Lock Stock" Ritchie (also known as Mr Madonna) is about to start filming on a new Sherlock Holmes movie, with Robert Downey Jr as Holmes and Jude Law as Watson. Come back in 2010 when it will appear in cinemas. You can read more about the whole shebang here.
