Happy New Year

2007 is upon us, bringing with it a mixture of the old and new.

Same old same old: late night walks up Brabyn's brow.

Same old same old: unable to win (or lose) the Spring Gardens quiz.

New new new: Nick's back.

New new new: new live local music.

Jonny: "I can still hear the music sitting down."

Ben's birthday

Ben's birthday provided another good excuse to head for the bright lights of Manchester...

Liamo tries to remember which song he put on the jukebox.

Chris: "I've never seen so many photos without Jimbo in them."

B and Michelle check out the cocktails menu in Blu Bar.

Ben: "We're not teenagers any more James."

Liamo: "How long to Piccadilly station from here?"

Due to the last video being unembeddable, here's one that you can view straight away, Bronx Cheer from Mercury Rev's second album. Why don't people make videos like this any more?

Yourself is steam

Back in the days when alternative rock really was quite alternative, Jonathan Donahue left the Flaming Lips to set up Mercury Rev. The first song on their first album was Chasing A Bee... "their pretty shells are so inviting, well-protected, their eyes are rivers, they give me shivers"... and so on. Unfortunately it can't be embedded in this page but you can find it by clicking the link here.

Imitation guns aplenty.

Tense hostage situation.

Almost the funniest photo ever.
